Kenjutsu: The Art of the Blade
Kenjutsu teaches techniques for all manner of bladed weapons: tanto (daggers), yoroi odoshi (long daggers), shoto (short sword), daito (long sword), and naginata (halberd).
The art includes opponents with different weapons (sword vs staff, or short vs long sword) and the techniques of iaijutsu (draw and cut).
The Kenjutsu curriculum also includes the techniques of the tessen (steel war fan), both open or folded.
Bokken (wooden practice swords) are used for kenjutsu waza (two man practice), and shinken (live blades) are used for forms practice and advanced practice.
If you don't feel you're ready for a full class, you may like to take private lessons from a TMAS instructor.
